ALTlate summer / early fall thoughts
yesterday the rains came. I've been trapped inside for the last week sharing an air filter with my roommates as we watched the air quality index get worse and worse. watching the weather intently. We couldn't work (we all work outside), we couldn't go anywhere, we couldn't do anything, and the air in our house smelled a little more like a campfire each day.
Yesterday the rains came. I made myself bacon, eggs, and a piece of toast, and i sat in our driveway, in the downpour, eating them as they got soggier and soggier. It was a joyous experience. To be alive again. It was a tragic experience. To know I'd be trapped again next year.
I've lived here all my life.
I remember when you could breathe the air every day.
